$30 Million in State Grants Available to Fire Companies, Volunteer Ambulance Service Providers, Toepel Says

Application period opens in early September

HARRISBURG - Rep. Marcy Toepel (R-Montgomery) announced today that fire companies and volunteer ambulance services throughout Pennsylvania will soon be permitted to apply for their share of $30 million in state grants.

“Last year, the state Legislature reauthorized the Fire Company, Volunteer Ambulance Services Grant Program for four more years and allocated the necessary funding,” said Toepel.  “These grants help to provide our emergency services personnel with the tools and equipment they need to protect the public in emergencies.”

Under the program, fire companies may be eligible for grants ranging from $2,500 to $15,000 and volunteer ambulance service providers may qualify for grants of $2,500 to $10,000.  Volunteer fire companies that also provide volunteer ambulance services are eligible to apply for both classifications of grants.

Beginning the week of Sept. 9, and for 45 days thereafter, fire companies and volunteer ambulance service companies may apply online or download an application from the website of the Office of State Fire Commissioner.
