Area Lawmakers Announce Route 263 Named in Honor of Local Officer’s Ultimate Commitment
HARRISBURG—Reps. Bernie O’Neill (R-Bucks), Kate Harper (R-Montgomery) and Marcy Toepel (R-Montgomery) as well as Sens. Daylin Leach (R-Berks/Chester/Montgomery), Stewart Greenleaf (R-Bucks/Montgomery), Bob Mensch (R-Berks/Bucks/Montgomery) and John Rafferty (R-Berks/Chester/Montgomery) announced that a portion of Pennsylvania Route 263 in Bucks County will be renamed as the Officer Bradley M. Fox Memorial Highway.

Officer Bradley M. Fox of Plymouth Township was killed in the line of duty in September 2012, which sent shockwaves through the community.

“It is important that we honor this local hero who fearlessly served his community, which is why I drafted the legislation to make the memorial highway possible,” said O’Neill. “I applaud everyone’s efforts on passing this legislation.”

Fox was a seven-year veteran of the force and a Marine who served two tours of duty in Iraq.

The legislators named above stressed the highway’s importance in a joint statement:

“We wanted his family and friends to have a place to remember his incredible heroism, selflessness and courage. Now all who travel this road will be aware.

“The location Fox’s family chose for the highway is in front of the ice rink where he played ice hockey as a youth. We are thankful that the highway will honor the fond memories that his family shares of him, and we will further celebrate those memories during the dedication ceremony later this year.”
