Fire and Emergency Medical Services Grants Announced, Says Toepel
HARRISBURG – Rep. Marcy Toepel (R-Montgomery) announced today that grants have been awarded to fire and emergency medical services companies statewide, including several in the 147th District.

The grants, which are being awarded through the 2014-15 Fire Company and Volunteer Ambulance Service Grant Program, may be used for construction or renovation of a unit’s station, the purchase or repair of equipment, training or debt reduction. The program is funded solely from state gaming proceeds.

“Our fire departments and emergency medical providers serve us in our times of need—often by saving our lives,” Toepel said. “These grants, totaling more than $160,000, make their jobs a little easier by helping them fund the purchase of a new piece of equipment or train a new volunteer.”

The grants were awarded as follows:
• Gilbertsville Area Community Ambulance Service Emergency Medical Services – $7,444.
• Gilbertsville Fire and Rescue Co. Fire Co. – $14,284.
• Green Lane Fire Co. – $12,899.
• Harleysville Community Fire Co. – $14,284.
• Sassamansville Fire Co. – $14,284.
• Schwenksville Fire Co. – $14,284.
• Telford Volunteer Diving and Rescue Unit Fire Co. – $12,622.
• Telford Volunteer Fire Co. – $13,453.
