Toepel Invites 147th District Nonprofits to Fraud Prevention Seminar
HARRISBURG – Rep. Marcy Toepel (R-Montgomery) encourages all nonprofit organizations in the 147th District to learn about how to secure their finances by attending her free seminar on Tuesday, Sept. 8, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the West Pottsgrove Township Building, 980 Grosstown Road, in Stowe.

The program is designed for leaders and officials involved in nonprofits to share information about how to keep the group’s finances secure and protect the organization from becoming a victim of common financial schemes. During the seminar, prosecutors and professional auditors will share information about how to ensure funds are only used to benefit the organization.

“Far too often, non-profits end up in the news as the victims of fraud or embezzlement,” Toepel said. “This seminar will help local non-profit organizers, such as fire and ambulance companies, Lions and Kiwanis clubs, churches, all types of sporting clubs as well as boards and commissions to ensure their funds are going to help those who truly deserve it.”

Due to limited seating, interested organizations are asked to RSVP to Lynn Wolfe at (610) 323-3299 or by Friday, Sept. 4.

“I am pleased to partner with the Montgomery County Controller, Montgomery County District Attorney and West Pottsgrove Township to present this joint community outreach event,” Toepel said.
