Toepel, VITA Provide Free Tax Preparation
HARRISBURG – Rep. Marcy Toepel (R-Montgomery) is partnering with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program to make free tax preparation services available at her office on March 3 and 4 for low-income individuals and families.

“Many of us find the process of preparing our own taxes confusing and stressful, but qualifying seniors and families of the district can avoid that experience this year,” Toepel said. “I encourage them to let the experts make sure their taxes are prepared accurately, maximizing the return they will receive.”

The service is available for families and individuals with an annual household income of less than $54,000. All taxes are filed electronically, allowing residents to receive their tax returns in as little as seven to 10 days.

To assist with this tax preparation service, all tax documents must be brought along and both spouses must be present to sign the required forms for electronic filing of a joint return.

Individuals and couples should bring the following:

• Valid photo identification.
• Social Security cards.
• W-2s, 1099s, 1099-Rs and other tax documents.
• Bank routing number and bank account number for direct deposit.
• A copy of their 2014 tax return (if available).

Hour-long appointments are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis and offered at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Two appointments are offered each available hour for a total of eight opportunities a day, so please call Toepel’s office at (610) 323-3299 to make an appointment. Walk-ins will not be accepted.

The office is located at 1885 Swamp Pike, Suite 107, Gilbertsville. For directions or more information, constituents can call the office or visit Toepel’s website at
