Toepel Sworn In to Fifth House of Representatives Term
Rep. Marcy Toepel (R-Montgomery) took the oath of office today to begin her fifth term representing the people of the 147th District and her first serving as the caucus chairman in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
“Late last year, I was elected as the House caucus chairman for this legislative session. This is an exciting opportunity, and I am honored to serve in this capacity for the benefit of Commonwealth residents,” Toepel said.
The responsibilities of caucus chairman include conducting all Republican Caucus meetings and notifying members when bills they are sponsoring are scheduled for a House vote, and also if amendments are posted to their legislation. She will inform members of the session schedule and of legislation scheduled for floor votes. In addition, Toepel will participate in leadership discussions and help to set the House agenda.
In addition to serving as the caucus chairman, Toepel will focus her legislative efforts on claiming a portion of revenue generated by the Valley Forge Casino for the benefit of Montgomery County nonprofits and parks. She will also advocate for Pennsylvanians with rare diseases by creating a House Rare Disease Caucus to review important issues and ways to improve the lives of those with rare diseases.
“There are a number of critical concerns to be addressed – including property tax reform, education funding and pension reform – and I look forward to working in a bipartisan fashion to make significant improvements in the lives of Pennsylvanians,” Toepel added.
