Spring Mountain Road Bridge Scheduled to Reopen Oct. 29

State Rep. Marcy Toepel (R-Montgomery) issued the following statement today regarding the scheduled reopening this Friday of the Spring Mountain Road Bridge over Perkiomen Creek:

“The new bridge, which reconnects Lower Frederick and Upper Salford townships, is scheduled to open, ahead of schedule, this Friday, Oct. 29.

“The old bridge, which served our community well for more than 130 years, simply deteriorated over time and needed to be replaced. The new concrete beam bridge will have wider lanes, safety shoulders, and a bike path connecting it to the Perkiomen Trail. Those using the bridge will do so knowing their crossing will be significantly safer than in the past.

“I want to thank not only my neighbors in the Perkiomen Valley who patiently endured 12 months of traffic detours and delays while the new bridge was under construction, but also the men and women who worked tirelessly to make our commute a much safer one. We look forward to enjoying the fruits of their labor for decades to come.”
