Business Spotlight – Capitol Guided Tour
I’ll be visiting a business each week for my Business Spotlight! It's a one-on-one tour with me so I can learn more about the many wonderful businesses we have in the 147th District. You must live in the 147th Legislative District to be eligible. If that's you and you'd like your business to be featured, please contact Bill at so we can schedule a tour.

As I worked on the budget this week, I spent a lot of time at the Capitol. So, I thought it would be appropriate for my Business Spotlight series to highlight the Capitol Guided Tour everyone can enjoy.

During the Capitol tour, visitors will see the main Rotunda, the Senate Chamber and the House Chamber. Tour guides share the history of the building and explain the basic workings of state government. Visitors can also enjoy the Welcome Center, which is a great start because it has a series of educational displays that explain how laws are made that even allow citizens to “vote” on legislation. Citizens can also find out who their representatives are in the House and Senate and contact them with questions and comments.

Tours are offered every half hour between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. They are also offered at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays and most holidays. Would you like your school, church or social group to tour the Capitol Spring 2015? It is a busy time for tours, so make arrangements in advance. You can call the Capitol directly at 1-800-868-7672 to schedule your tour. For your safety, group size is limited to 80.

If you are unable to visit Harrisburg to tour the Capitol, you can do so from the comfort of your home. Just visit the Pennsylvania Capitol website.  You’ll see all that the Capitol has to offer, courtesy of the Photo Imaging Technology Program students at Berks Career & Technology Center who created the virtual tour.
